Going Green isn’t something you should just do once a year on St. Patty’s Day. You should strive to be green everyday! Using recycled materials is a great place to start.
What does Going Green mean, exactly? It means that products with a “green” label on them have been, produced, used, and disposed of in a way that creates a minimal carbon footprint. These are usually made from materials that are biodegradable, recyclable, or compostable. These products work to conserve energy and minimize the emission of greenhouse gases, that lead to climate change (global warming). Using recycled materials reduces the need for raw materials, as well as landfill waste, and decreases pollution.
As the world starts to become more environmentally conscious, companies realize this is what their consumers want, the more companies are manufacturing eco-friendly products. There is a lot more choices compared to what we had 10-15 years ago. Some of the most popular eco-friendly materials to use for flooring are bamboo, cork, linoleum, rubber, stone, tile, wood, and natural-fiber carpet. Some of the materials previously mentioned are sold as both eco-friendly and non eco-friendly so, make sure you look for some kind of label. If it doesn’t specifically mention that it’s eco-friendly, there’s a good chance it’s not.
Four Season’s Flooring has a good selection of eco-friendly products if you’re thinking of redoing your floors. Come see us at either of our locations to check it out, today!
