Summer Floor Care Tips

Summer time means lots of time outdoors: swimming, going to the beach, digging in the dirt, playing in the yard. When the fun and work is over, it’s time to head inside to cool off and clean up. What you track inside with you can effect your homes flooring this time of year. But not to worry, we have some easy summer floor care tips that will keep your floors in shape and not take away from your time in the sun!

Use a doormat

A doormat is a simple (and stylish!) way to easily clean off you feet prior to entering your home. The summer season has pollen, more dusty and humidity than other seasons, which can easily be tracked inside unknowingly. Placing a doormat out side of each entry way (front door, sliding doors, garage door, back door, etc) can be your first defense against these unwanted house guests.

Excessive Sunlight

UV rays are stronger in the summer, and will be pouring in your windows. Any flooring or carpet that gets many hours per day will be affected by fading, discoloration, and premature aging. To preserve your flooring, hang some drapes or blinds, or use the ones you already have up!

Everyday tools & Maintain

This is easy, and will only take a few minutes out of each day. Simple tools like a duster or  microfiber mop will ensure your floors aren’t damaged while keeping them clean. Dirt build up can wreak havoc on finishes over time. Keep it up and keep that glow.

Vacuum your floor every week

To get your floors the cleanest we suggest vacuuming them once a week. Vacuuming will pull up all of the before mentioned, as well as dust bunnies and all grit. Be sure to use your vacuum on the appropriate floor setting to as to not damage your floors finish.

Think that your floors need more of a refresh this summer season?

Summer is a great time of year to do maintenance on your floors as there is less moisture in the air and usually more air flow available in the home. Give us call to see how we can get your floors in tip-top shape!
