No matter what kind of flooring you decide to go with, one of the most important things to consider is proper installation. At Four Seasons Flooring, we have a great selection of flooring to choose from but, another thing we pride ourselves on is having an experienced flooring crew that you can count on to provide proper installation. This is the best way to optimize the look and longevity of your new floors. Trust us, having to live with imperfectly laid flooring is something that will haunt you for years to come! Trying to DIY might seem like a good idea in the beginning, to save a few bucks but, we promise you’ll be happy you let the professionals handle it, in the long run!
There are several essential elements for proper floor installation. The first is measurement…
People used to break out the tape measure and get down on their hands and knees to measure. Not anymore. Now things are measured with lasers. Which is fine but, you have to know how to properly use a laser to measure. If you’re holding it at just slightly the wrong angle, your measurement will be off.
Subflooring can also make a big difference in the technique that is used to lay the flooring and most importantly, making sure it is level. You don’t want to be able to stand on one side of the room and place a baseball on the floor, only to watch it roll to the other end of the room!
Padding is a tricky subject. Not every type of flooring will require padding but, some do. You can actually place too much padding under your floor, which will wear out the joints and cause your floor boards to separate. Padding creates a good sound barrier and makes the floor softer to walk on. Moisture barriers can be added as well.
Part of being a professional installer in knowing how to handle the materials. Large rolls of carpet, snapping floor boards or fitting tiles together can be a harder task than it might seem. Matching seams, creating patterns, and working around curves, corners, or other obstacles. Additionally, knowing how to properly secure the flooring is the only way to make sure it will last into the future.
