Your Guide To Luxury Vinyl Flooring

In recent years, vinyl has dramatically improved in style and performance. With these improvements and popularity, it has also become much more confusing to browse through its wide selection of product variations, so Four Seasons Flooring is here to help! You might have heard of Luxury vinyl flooring and not even realize it. Commonly, Luxury vinyl flooring is referred to by acronyms LVP, LVT or EVP. Read on to learn more about each category.

Luxury vinyl flooring is a newer option on the market that provides wood and stone looks using 3D printing technology to mimic the texture of the real thing. A protective wear layer covers the textured vinyl, increasing its resistance to scratching, staining and wear & tear. Luxury vinyl comes in tile and plank forms, shortened to LVT (luxury vinyl tile) and LVP (luxury vinyl plank) respectively.

How do you choose between luxury vinyl tile and plank styles? This ultimately comes down to personal preference. Tile pieces typically come in stone looks, while plank pieces have both wood and stone looks. Both styles have a few installation options. Some LVT products have peel-off backing, while others are installed with full-spread adhesive. Meanwhile, some LVP products also have peel-off backing, but most are installed with a click-and-lock method similar to laminate flooring.

In addition to these options, there’s also EVP (engineered vinyl plank) that’s a subset of luxury vinyl plank with a rigid core made of fiberboard. Engineered vinyl plank is an excellent flooring option for areas with minor irregularities in the subfloor. Most EVP products also have a bottom layer of cork used for cushioning that provides added comfort and sound absorption.
